Top 5 Reasons We’re Thankful
There are so many reasons we’re thankful for cheerleading โ from the lifelong friends we’ve made to the confidence we’ve built achieving our goals and getting to make a difference in our community. With the holidays just around the corner, it’s important to give thanks and remember that we have a lot to be thankful for!
Feel free to add your own in the comments!
Here are our top 5 reasons we’re thankful for cheer:
#5. Cheer Coaches
They’re our drill sergeants and our therapists, our role models and our motivational speakers, cheer coaches teach us how to achieve our dreams while pushing us to be brave and to learn new things every day! They deserve all the praise in the world because where would be without these dedicated souls?
#4. Cheer Moms (and Dads!)
Moms are superheroes anyway but cheer moms are a special kind to sports mom. They’re the biggest, best fans a cheerleader can have — like cheerleaders for the cheerleaders! And it doesn’t take much to repay for mom for all her hard work, just a smile, a big hug, a simple thank you every once in a while goes a long way.
#3. Glitter and Bows
Cheerleaders get to perform and dance, do stunts and flips — and it’s one of the few sports where you get to look good doing it! We love the fashionable uniforms, the matching bows, and ALL the glitter, plus, doing hair and makeup for game day with the whole cheer squad is always fun.
#2. Community
With cheerleading, you have a built-in support structure – you share the stage (and the pressure) with a team that shares your passion. We work together, compete together, and celebrate together creating an amazing bond that can last a lifetime with coaches, teammates, choreographers, twitter friends (and frenemies), and everything in-between. And it goes further than that, as a cheerleader we get to make people happy, rallying our towns to support the football players, basketball players, or causes like pink-out nights. As cheerleaders, we get to lead by example and help the community!
#1. IT’S FUN!
You work hard, you push your body as far as it will go, and youโre sore all the time, but you’re still having the time of your life because, duh, cheerleading is amazing! Cheerleading makes us stronger, teaches us to do our very best, and at the heart of it all, cheer is about celebrating life.
There are so many things we’re thankful for this year, but one big thing definitely is cheer. Cheer has built us into stronger, better people with confidence and a work ethic that will take us far — even after we hang up those cheer shoes. And we will forever be thankful for that!
